Organic skin care products have come out from the exclusive spas and into product lines of fine department stores, retailers and even online stores. Organic may be a trendy aspect of the “green” movement but it’s also an ideal treatment for sensitive skin. As consumers become pickier about what they put on their skin, the interest in organic and natural products grows daily.
The term “organic” on the label tells the consumer that the skin care product was made with natural substances, plants, herbs or essential oils. That suggests the skin care is more healthful and nurturing to the skin. Genuine organic products are more expensive to produce, harvest and distill for the products. The price of skin care purity is higher than what you might pay for a synthetic, chemical laden cream or moisturizer.
What difference does it really make to have organic or natural substances in the skin care products? Look at it this way, your skin is natural so natural skin care makes sense. Some products that claim to be “organic” or “natural” are not what you expect. The label says “derived from” natural substances. A soothing skin care product that contains real aloe vera is vastly better than a product that has some chemical substitute that is a derivative (think fake version) of aloe vera. Which one do you want seeping into the delicate pores of your face – real aloe or fake aloe? The only way you will know the difference is to read the label carefully.
Various skin conditions such as eczema, dryness and allergies can benefit from using organic skin care products. Organic elements are less drying and irritating than are many chemicals or synthetics products. Another advantage of organics is that they do not contain dyes or perfumes found in less expensive skin care.
Genuine organic skin care products will also have “Certified Organic” on the label. This assures the buyer that the organic skin care product is 100% natural based on tests for purity by an independent certification group. Double check this by searching for the name of the credentialing organization on the internet.
Here’s an easy way to decide which products to consider. If the ingredients on the label read more like a chemistry lesson than a list of plants or essential oils, put it back on the shelf. Real organic skin care products contain items that are familiar and not loaded with strange synthetics. If you get home with the product and then find odd words on the label, don’t open it. Make an internet search for the ingredients and return the product unopened if you find it’s not the organic skin care products as advertised.
After you become accustomed to using organic skin care products, you will get a “feel” for the products. The gentle cleansers, soothing emollients and fresh scents become so comforting to the skin. Those qualities are not found in cheap skin care or even in expensive chemical loaded skin care products. Your skin will definitely notice the difference and may rebel with break-outs if you go back to products that are not as pure.
